Crime of the Week:  Help needed identifying credit card fraud suspect

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify an individual in reference to a theft and unlawful use of credit card.

On January 22, 2026, officers received a report of a lost credit card, and the credit card was used at various businesses around Springfield. Video from the businesses show the suspect, who appears to be a black male wearing a blue coat making several purchases in town totaling hundreds of dollars.
