Decatur, IL (WAND) – Nicole Moody is set to become the new superintendent for Decatur Public Schools.

According to a contract in the school board meeting packet for the board’s February 24 meeting, Moody will take over on July 1 pending a vote during the meeting.

Moody will replace current superintendent Rochelle Clark, who announced her retirement in October 2024.

If approved, Moody’s contract will start on July 1, 2026 and end on June 30, 2029. Her annual salary will be $237,500.

Moody is currently the assistant superintendent of teaching, learning and school culture for Springfield Public Schools.

She is set to be introduced to the community at a press conference on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Johns Hill Magnet School Auditorium.

Moody was said to be one of the candidates for the District 186 superintendent position that ended up going to fellow Assistant Superintendent, Terrence Jordan.  Jordan will replace Jennifer Gill at the end of the current school year.
