Illinois women earn No. 10 seed, open Big Ten Tournament play Wednesday

Champaign, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY) – Illinois Fighting Illini women’s basketball has earned the No. 10 seed for the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament and will open postseason play Wednesday against No. 15 seed Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball.

The tournament runs March 4–8 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Illinois finished the regular season 9-9 in Big Ten play, marking the program’s third .500-or-better conference finish under head coach Shauna Green.

The Illini and Wisconsin are scheduled to tip off at approximately 5 p.m. CT Wednesday, with first-round games streaming on Peacock. A win would send Illinois into the second round Thursday for a matchup against No. 7 seed and No. 15/15 nationally ranked Michigan State Spartans women’s basketball.

All 14 tournament games will be nationally televised or streamed. Second-round through semifinal games will air on the Big Ten Network and FOX Sports app, while Sunday’s championship game will be broadcast on CBS.
