Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A recent guest on the WTAX Morning Newswatch, Pam Hulten, Director of the Springfield Memorial Foundation, talked about how they are attempting to make hospital experiences better for both patients and staff, and what they are doing to invest further into their foundation.

“Last year we had a really wonderful year, we raised just over 3 million dollars through our foundation. The more important part of that is what we are able to invest back into our organization. We awarded big and small grants back within our organization, and the Staff have a really big input on ways we can make a difference, and we awarded out 1.6 million.” Said Hulten.

The community received donations that helped Springfield Memorial Hospital be better for their patients, and staff. From upgrading facilities or getting better beds for patients. You also, as a community member, don’t need to worry if you don’t have the financial ability to donate. You can also volunteer as well. according to Hulten, volunteering is just as good as a financial contribution.

Hulten also stated “It is a wonderful thing. I get a great joy walking through the hospital every day and seeing those traditional red coats worn by our volunteers. They put in so much time and so much of their heart to bring you a smile”

For more details, go online to the foundation’s website. If you want to donate in person, if you happen to be in or near the hospital, just simply go to one of the front desks on the first floor and ask for the Memorial Foundation to be helped in the right direction. The foundation is encouraging end of year donations ahead of the coming Giving Tuesday.
