Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A teenager is dead after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car Monday evening.

According to a news release, Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says Quaneal Leone, 14, was pronounced dead at the hospital around 6:45 p.m.

Allmon says the car allegedly struck the bike near Cook Street and Eastdale Avenue on the city’s east side, not long before Leone was pronounced dead.

Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Tuesday indicate Leone died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Springfield Police say they are still continuing to investigate the crash.
